50 Cent Accuses Def Jam Of Rigging Sales Numbers

50 Cent Accuses Def Jam Of Rigging Sales Numbers

After being defeated by Kanye West on the UK album charts, 50 Cent has accused Def Jam of rigging Kanye's album sales.

"He's never had a fraction of the sales 50 Cent has. They (Def Jam) could have one scan and have it count four times. West's entire career hasn't sold half what I sold on my first album" 50 told UNCUT.

West's single 'Stronger' has also beaten 50's 'Ayo Technology' - charting at three and five respectively on the singles charts.

Sean Kingston's 'Beautiful Girls' remains at number one on the singles chart for a third week running. source

Kanye West Leading In Album Sales Against Rival 50 Cent

Kanye West Leading In Album Sales Against Rival 50 Cent

***BREAKING***
Billboard has learned that today's SoundScan Building Chart indicates first-day sales of 437,000 for West's "Graduation," 310,000 for 50 Cent's "Curtis" and 107,000 for Chesney's "Just Who I Am: Poets and Pirates."

September 12, 2007 -- Kanye West is making chump change out of rival 50 Cent.

The preppy singer's CD was handily beating his Queens-born rapper foe's in online sales on several sites as both albums debuted yesterday.

West's "Graduation," the latest installment in his college-themed trilogy, soared to the top of the charts on Amazon.com, while "Fitty's" landed at a disappointing No. 6.

With iTunes, West's new album was ranked as the second best seller of the day.

"This album is simply amazing," one customer posted. "Buy it now and forget about 50 Cent for a while."

On the same site, 50 Cent's "Curtis" CD - his real name is Curtis Jackson - landed in the ninth spot.

Fitty famously boasted he would stop making solo records if West beat him in first-week album sales.

Still, at local stores, the matchup appeared to be fairly even.

"They're pretty close," said Eclipse, the manager of Fat Beats in Manhattan. "I'd say we probably moved more Kanye than 50, but it's pretty neck-and-neck."

As for the rivalry between West and Fitty, it seems to be good for business for both of them, which may explain why Fitty seemed awful chummy with his supposed rival at the MTV Music Awards Sunday night. source

Rumors are flying about Kanye West's new album, Graduation, whose cover features a Takashi Murakami flying teddy bear spewing out of a giant mouth. The teddy bear is wearing the McFLY 2015's worn by Marty McFly in Back to the Future II.

The McFly 2015 project aims to entice Nike to release the futuristic shoes worn by Marty McFly in Back to the Future II’s 2015 scenes. The project has gained some headway, recently discovering that Nike actually patented the shoes back in 1990. Now it seems that everybody’s getting into the act. source

New Music: Kanye West Ft. Lil Wayne - "Barry Bonds"

Download/Listen: Kanye West Ft. Lil Wayne - "Barry Bonds"

Kanye Speaks About "Barry Bonds" & Graduation LP

OK, so Kanye West has had a change of heart — there will be one rapper on his upcoming Graduation LP after all. Lil Wayne has made the final cut and will appear on a track called "Barry Bonds," Roc-A-Fella/ Def Jam confirmed Tuesday (August 14).

Bonds — Major League Baseball's controversial, newly crowned home-run king — is apparently a metaphor for how big West thinks the record will be. The chorus goes, "Here's another hit, Barry Bonds."

As he's been doing on "Can't Tell Me Nothing," its remix and "Stronger," West uses "Barry Bonds" in part to proclaim his continued evolution as one of the top lyricists in the game.

"You should go 'head and bow so hard that you knees hit your fo'head," he raps over slow synths. "And the flow just hit code red/ Top five MCs, you ain't gotta remind me/ Top five MCs, you gotta rewind me/ I'm high up on the line, you could get in behind me/ But my head's so big, you can't sit behind me."

Weezy F. Baby does his usual stylized guest-vocal spazz outs. "My teeth and my ice so white like Shay Day/ The ice in my teeth so reee-frig-er-ated/ I'm all about my Franklins, Lincolns and Reagans/ Whenever they make them."

"Barry Bonds" isn't the next official single from Graduation, however — that'll be "Good Life," which features singer T-Pain. Kanye samples Michael Jackson's "P.Y.T." and speaks up reveling and celebrating. Chris Martin of Coldplay has also been announced by Roc-A-Fella/ Def Jam as a collaborator on "Homecoming."

Graduation — despite some Internet rumors to the contrary — is still dropping September 11 and will face off against 50 Cent's Curtis LP. source

50 Cent Bets His Career Against Kanye West

50 Cent Bets His Career Against Kanye West

50 Cent recently bet his career as a rapper that he'd outsell Kanye West when their albums drop next month.

Despite holding a more successful track record, skeptics are questioning whether 50 Cent's Curtis will outsell Kanye West's Graduation come September 11. Ask 50 and he'll tell you there's no way he'll come in second. In fact, he's ready to wager his career on it.

"They would like to see Kanye West give me a problem because I've worked myself into a space where I've become the favorite," Fif told SOHH exclusively. "Everybody roots against the underdog when he goes against the favorite.

"Put it like this," 50 continued. "Let's raise the stakes. If Kanye West sells more records than 50 Cent on September 11, I'll no longer write music. I'll write music and work with my other artists, but I won't put out any more solo albums.

"And I bet this, when Kanye West's sales come in, he's gonna have a 70% decrease [the second week] 'cause Def Jam is gonna buy records to keep him closer to 50 Cent," the Queens rapper added. "So watch the first week and then watch the second week. Watch his @#* drop off the planet. We keep our angles covered before we make a decent bet." Read More

Kanye Says No Features On 'Graduation'

Kanye Says No Features On 'Graduation'

Kanye West is ready to graduate. With his LP dropping, West recently spoke on a few things and said a few things that could get him in trouble.

This time around, he decided to not let any artists on the album, aside from a Jeezy adlib. Why?

"I don't have any rappers on my album...Not just because I'm trying to make a statement of being an MC — I want people to get into my album and zone out. You never asked Marvin Gaye, 'You have such and such doing a background track?' I do have an ad-lib from [Young] Jeezy. That's because he has that line, 'Hey Snowman, can I get an ad-lib?' So I asked for an ad-lib. Where the rappers do appear is on the remixes," Kanye said. source
